House Republicans Stand With Our Greatest Ally Israel While Joe Biden Turns His Back

  • Stand With Israel

Last week, Joe Biden announced that he would stop military aid to our most precious ally Israel. This aid is needed to target Hamas terrorists and avoid civilian casualties.

That is why today, House Republicans are bringing to the floor the Israel Security Assistance Support Act, which forces Biden to quickly deliver the Congressionally approved defense articles and services to Israel, including third-party deliveries. This bill also condemns Biden’s dangerous decision to pause arms as Israel faces unprecedented threats from Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Iran, reaffirms Israel’s right to self-defense, and upholds the power of the purse and oversight responsibilities of Congress.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced yesterday that he would not bring this bill to the floor for a vote after Joe Biden announced he would veto it if it got to his desk. The idea that the United States would ever abandon Israel, let alone while they are fighting not only for their right to exist, but for the rights of Jewish people everywhere, is one that Biden himself only a few years ago said “would be a tragic mistake” and promised that he would not do. While Schumer previously bragged about always supporting Israel’s right to defend itself from Hamas.

MAKE NO MISTAKE: House Republicans will not waver in our ironclad support for our most precious ally Israel.

FACTS ABOUT THE ISRAEL SECURITY ASSISTANCE SUPPORT ACT (Courtesy of the House Appropriations Committee):

  • Compels the expeditious delivery of approved defense articles and services to Israel, including third-party deliveries.

    • Prohibits funds to withhold delivery of defense articles and services from the U.S. to Israel.

    • Imposes a strict timeline by:

      • Requiring delivery of currently withheld defense articles and services within 15 days and withholding funds from the Offices of the Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, and the National Security Council until such deliveries are made.

      • Requiring the Secretary of Defense and Secretary of State to obligate all funds appropriated for Israel assistance within 30 days.

  • Condemns the Biden Administration’s dangerous decision to pause arms as Israel faces unprecedented threats from Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Iran.

  • Reaffirms Israel’s right to self-defense.

  • Upholds the power of the purse and oversight responsibilities of Congress.

  • Requires a report on actions taken by the Executive Branch to withhold security assistance and therefore impede Israel’s ability to defend itself.
