The number of illegal immigrants that have evaded Border Patrol agents, also known as ‘gotaways,’ has skyrocketed because of Joe Biden Biden’s failed Far Left open border policies. Since Biden took office, there have been more known ‘gotaways’ at our Southern Border than in the previous decade combined. 
 
According to Fox News: 
 
The numbers of Border Patrol nationwide gotaways -- illegal immigrants who avoided agents but were detected by other forms of surveillance such as cameras and sensors -- were obtained by a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request filed by Fox in October.
 
They show that between FY 2010 and FY 2020 inclusive, there were over 1.4 million gotaways, ranging from a low of 86,226 in FY 2011 to a high of 171,663 in FY 2013.
 
In FY 2020, there were 136,808 gotaways at the border. That number then rose to 387,398 in FY 2021, which coincided with the last months of the Trump administration and the first months of the Biden administration.
 
As the migrant numbers at the southern border rose to crisis levels, so did the number of gotaways -- with numbers then skyrocketing to 606,131 in FY 2022 and 670,674 in FY 23.
 
This means that there were more gotaways in FY21-23 (1.6 million) than the decade of FY 2010 to FY 2020 (1.4 million).
 
MAKE NO MISTAKE: Joe Biden’s failed Far Left open border policies have turned every community into a border community, jeopardized our national security, and destroyed countless American lives. • Since Joe Biden took office:
  • There have been OVER 9.2 MILLION illegal immigrant encounters nationwide. 
  • There have been OVER 7.6  MILLION illegal immigrant encounters at our Southern Border.
  • The number of known gotaways at the Southern Border has skyrocketed by 390.23%.
  • Immigration judges have thrown out approximately 200,000 deportation cases because DHS did not file the required "Notice to Appear" by the time of the scheduled hearing.
• In March, there were 189,372 illegal immigrant encounters at our Southern Border.
  • March was the 37th straight month where monthly illegal immigrant encounters have been higher than even the highest month seen under President Trump. 
• The Biden Border Crisis is costing the United States approximately $150.7 billion each year. 
  • The burden of illegal immigration on U.S. taxpayers is both staggering and crippling, with the gross cost per taxpayer at $1,156 every year.
• Under Biden, over 350 of these individuals whose names appear on the terrorist watchlist were stopped trying to cross the Southern Border.
  • So far in FY24, there have been 75 individuals whose names appear on the terrorist watch list who have been stopped trying to enter the U.S. illegally between ports of entry at the Southern Border.
• So far in FY24, 24,376 Communist Chinese nationals have been encountered at the Southwest border.
  • Encounters of Communist Chinese nationals in March 2024 increased by 8,500% compared to March 2021. 
  • Encounters of Communist Chinese nationals have surpassed all of last fiscal year––just six months into FY24.
• In May, the Committee on Homeland Security Republicans released documents showing the Biden Administration secretly flew over 400,000 illegal immigrants into the country. 
• In May, Fox News reported that since Joe Biden took office there have been more known gotaways than in the previous decade combined. 
• Biden’s Far Left open border policies are to blame for this historic crisis. 
  • There are OVER 60 instances of Joe Biden and his Administration taking actions that undermined our nation’s border security, including halting the construction of the border wall. 
  • In August 2022, Biden and his Administration decided to make the border crisis WORSE by formally ending former President Trump’s successful ‘Remain in Mexico’ program.”
  • The Biden Administration announced on May 10, 2023, that it would allow for the release of some migrants into the U.S. with no way to track them. 
    • Biden’s Department of Homeland Security has now admitted that 40% of catch-and-release migrants have disappeared.
