America is in the midst of a historic and unprecedented crisis at our Northern and Southern Borders. Fox News reported yesterday that “Illegal crossings are exploding.” Our Commander-In-Chief is missing in action on this issue and even refused to meet with leaders of his own party while in NYC this week. This should not come as a surprise to anyone given that it is Biden's Far Left open border policies that have caused this crisis, which has turned every community into a border community.  

BIDEN’S BORDER CRISIS BY THE NUMBERS:

• Since Joe Biden took office:
  • There have been OVER 5.8 MILLION illegal crossings of our southern border.
  • Approximately 1.6 MILLION illegal immigrants have evaded apprehension at our southern border, according to Border Patrol sources.
• In July there were 183,503 illegal immigrants encountered at the Southern Border. 
  • This is a 27% increase from June. 
  • July was the 29th straight month, where monthly illegal immigrant encounters have been higher than even the highest month seen under President Trump. 
• CBP has seized 23,769 of fentanyl so far in FY23.
  • Already in FY23, fentanyl seizures have surpassed the FY22 seizure total.
• Cartels are now making $13 billion a year smuggling illegal immigrants into the United States. 
• In August, we discovered that a smuggler with ties to ISIS helped migrants enter the United States from Mexico. 
• In just the first ten months of FY23, 146 people whose names appear on the terrorist watchlist were stopped trying to cross the Southern Border, an all time record. 
  • This total is more than the encounters in all FY17, FY18, FY19 and FY20 combined. 
  • There were 98 terror watchlist arrests in all of FY22, which was the previous all time record. 
  • In May, an Afghan national on the U.S. terror watchlist was arrested after he illegally entered the U.S.
• Biden’s Far Left open border policies are to blame for this historic crisis. 
  • During Biden’s first 100 days in office, he took 94 executive actions on immigration, including halting the construction of the border wall. 
  • In August 2022, Biden and his Administration decided to make the border crisis WORSE by formally ending former President Trump’s successful ‘Remain in Mexico’ program.
  • The Biden Administration announced on May 10, 2023, that it would allow for the release of some migrants into the U.S. with no way to track them. 
    • Biden’s Department of Homeland Security has now admitted that 40 percent of catch-and-release migrants have disappeared. 
• Despite this historic crisis Joe Biden has only visited the southern border ONCE, and it was widely panned as nothing more than a photo-op.  

MAKE NO MISTAKE: House Republicans know that border security is national security, and that is why we passed the Secure the Border Act of 2023, the strongest bordersecurity bill in history. It is time for Extreme Senate Democrats to pass the Secure the Border Act and for Biden to sign it into law. 

FACTS ABOUT THE SECURE THE BORDER ACT OF 2023:

• Force the Biden Administration to restart construction of the borderwall.
• Deploy technology to the Southern and Northern border.
• Increase the number of Border Patrol agents and provide bonus pay.
• Require transparency regarding illegal crossings from the Department of Homeland Security.
• Strengthen current law to protect unaccompanied children from human trafficking.
• End catch and release.
• End abuse of executive immigration authority.
• Strengthen and streamline the asylum process
