House Republicans on the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic published emails from Dr. Anthony Fauci showing that he “prompted” and had final approval on a scientific paper written specifically to disprove the theory that the virus leaked from a lab in Wuhan, China. 
 
Fauci then used this scientific paper “as evidence that the lab leak theory was implausible while pretending it had nothing to do with him.”
 
The lab leak theory has since become the prominent theory in U.S. intelligence circles for how COVID-19 came into existence. 
 
Fauci’s emails are just the latest evidence showing the great lengths he went to, to obscure the origins of COVID-19. There must be accountability. 
 
MAKE NO MISTAKE: Americans deserve to know the truth, and House Republicans are committed to uncovering that truth. That is why this week, we will be voting on S.619, the COVID–19 Origin Act of 2023, which requires the Biden Administration to declassify all information relating to potential links between the Wuhan Institute of Virology and the origin of COVID-19. Passing this legislation is essential if we’re to hold Communist China accountable for unleashing COVID on the world. 
 
COVID-19 ORIGIN ACT OF 2023 TOPLINES:

• The Department of Energy has reportedly concluded that COVID-19 most likely originated as a lab leak in Wuhan, China. The FBI came to the same conclusion years ago. 
• For years, media and so-called “experts” disparaged anyone who asked whether COVID-19 might have originated as a lab leak. Growing consensus in the U.S. government shows how wrong they were to do so – and how important it is to be open with the American people.
• Americans deserve to know how this devastating pandemic began. They deserve to know if it started as a leak at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, an institution known for its work on coronaviruses and ties to China’s military. 
• This isn’t just the right thing to do. It’s essential if we’re to hold Communist China accountable. And it will help us to take steps to prevent a similar pandemic from occurring again.
• The COVID-19 Origin Act requires the Biden Administration to declassify all information relating to potential links between the Wuhan Institute of Virology and the origin of COVID-19. 
• The Act also authorizes the Director of National Intelligence to take steps to protect U.S. intelligence sources and methods.
