A new ABC News-Washington Post poll reports more Americans than ever before say they are WORSE off financially than before the president took office. According to the same poll, six in ten Americans argue that President Biden has accomplished  “not very much” or “little or nothing” since taking office. 
 
Tomorrow, Joe Biden will face the nation in his second State of the Union Address—but today, hardworking Americans are still facing the devastating consequences of his failed Far Left agenda and reckless government spending.
 
BIDEN’S ECONOMIC CRISIS:

• When Joe Biden took office, inflation was at just 1.4%. 
• In December, the CPI came in at 6.5% for the 12 months ending December.
  • This is the second-hottest December CPI report since 1981.
• December was the 21st straight month that real wages have been negative. 
• The skyrocketing cost of goods and services cost families $10,000 over the last two years. 
• Inflation has risen over 13% since Joe Biden took office.
• More Americans than ever before in the history of an ABC News-Washington Post poll say they are worse off financially under the current president.

 
BIDEN’S ENERGY CRISIS:

• On the day that President Biden was sworn into office, the average price for a gallon of gas nationwide was $2.39.
• Today, the national average for a gallon of gas is $3.47—over a dollar more than when Biden took office.
• According to the Energy Assistance Directors Association, households are expected to pay the highest energy costs in 15 years this winter.
• Over a third of American households say they have forgone basic expenses to afford an energy bill in the last 12 months, according to a recent LendingTree survey.

 BIDEN’S NATIONAL SECURITY CRISIS:

• Joe Biden has failed to stand up to our adversaries in Beijing, Tehran, and Moscow. 
• The Biden Administration allowed a Chinese surveillance balloon to traverse the U.S., across sensitive military sites, before taking decisive action. 
  • The balloon entered U.S. airspace on January 28th over the Aleutian Islands in Alaska, days before the American people were made aware or before action was taken.
  • The American people deserve to know why Joe Biden allowed this national security threat for so long, why he tried to hide it from the American people, and what information our foreign adversaries were gathering. 
• Biden’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan resulted in OVER 1,000 Americans abandoned behind enemy lines for months at the mercy of the Taliban and $7 billion in U.S. military equipment left behind. 
• Under Biden, the U.S Army fell 15,000 soldiers short of their recruitment goal for FY22, missing by 25%.
  • According to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Personnel Policy, who testified before the Senate Armed Services Personnel Subcommittee, “this constitutes an unprecedented mission gap.”

 
BIDEN’S BORDER CRISIS:

• Since Joe Biden took office:
  • There have been OVER 4.5 MILLION illegal crossings of our southern border.
  • December 2022 was the worst month on CBP’s 22-year record for monthly crossings and the tenth consecutive month that our southern border had more than 200,000 illegal crossings.
  • More than 1.2 MILLION illegal immigrants have evaded apprehension at our southern border, according to Border Patrol sources.
• In the first three months of this fiscal year alone, CBP has seized over 9,000 pounds of fentanyl coming across the Southwest border—enough to kill over 2.1 billion people, or over 6.4 times the U.S. population.
• In just the first three months of FY 2023, 38 people whose names appear on the terrorist watchlist were stopped trying to cross the southern border.
  • This total is more than the encounters in all FY17, FY18, FY19, FY20, and FY21 combined. 

 
BIDEN’S CRIME CRISIS:

• According to the Major Cities Chiefs Association’s 2022 crime report for urban areas across the country:
  • Homicides are UP 13% since 2020
  • Rape is UP 23.56% since 2020
  • Aggravated Assaults are UP 33.89% since 2020
• According to the National Fraternal Order of Police, in 2022:
  • 323 police officers were shot.
  • 60 police officers were killed by gunfire.
    • 28% increase in police officers killed by gunfire compared to 2020.
• Biden’s Department of Justice released a report in December showing that even as crime skyrocketed in 2021, federal arrests actually decreased by 35% compared to 2020.

MAKE NO MISTAKE: This week is a crucial opportunity to contrast our policies that are putting America First with Joe Biden and his Administration’s failures. Luckily, House Republicans have already hit the ground running in fighting to fulfill our Commitment to America.
