Chairwoman McClain, SBA Administrator Loeffler Celebrate Michigan Small Businesses During National Small Business Week

MICHIGAN— House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain (MI-09) joined Small Business Administration (SBA) Administrator Kelly Loeffler and Rep. John James (MI-10) at Macomb Community College for the National Small Business Week Awards Ceremony. The event honored Michigan small businesses and entrepreneurs who help power the state’s economy.

“Small businesses are the soul of our neighborhoods, and I know that firsthand because I have been a small business owner,” Chairwoman McClain said. “It was great to join Administrator Loeffler in Michigan to celebrate the people who take risks, create jobs, and keep Main Street alive. House Republicans are fighting to give them what they deserve: less red tape, lower taxes, and more room to grow.”

Two award winners from across the state are located in Chairwoman McClain’s district: Barron Industries was named Manufacturer of the Year and Blue Spader Construction was named Blue Collar Small Business of the Year. Other Michigan honorees included SBDC Corridor Region Team I-69 as Resource Partner of the Year, Northern Wings as Rural Small Business of the Year, Shatila Bakery as Exporter of the Year, and Mettle Ops as Small Business Person of the Year.

National Small Business Week runs from May 3 to May 9 and recognizes America’s 36 million small businesses, which represent 99 percent of all private sector employers, create two out of every three new jobs, and contribute nearly half of our nation’s GDP.
