House Republicans Vote to Deport Foreign Fraudsters Who Rip Off American Taxpayers

WASHINGTON—House Republicans today passed the Deporting Fraudsters Act, legislation led by Rep. David Taylor (R-Ohio) to crack down on criminal illegal aliens who defraud the United States government or unlawfully collect public benefits.

The legislation is part of House Republicans’ broader effort to restore integrity to the immigration system and make clear that individuals who come here and exploit public programs or steal from the American people will face consequences.

House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) and Rep. Taylor released the following statements:

“American taxpayers are not an ATM for criminal aliens. If you come to this country to scam our social safety nets and steal from hardworking families, you shouldn’t get a court date, you should get a one-way ticket out,” Chairwoman McClain said. “This bill makes it crystal clear: defraud the American people and you’re gone. House Republicans are putting an end to the fraud, the abuse, and the war on taxpayers.”

“It’s a no-brainer – if an illegal alien defrauds the United States or steals benefits from our nation’s most vulnerable, they should be permanently removed from our country,” Rep. Taylor said. “Americans work too hard to have their tax dollars and benefits stolen by illegal aliens who shouldn’t be here in the first place. My Deporting Fraudsters Act will bolster the Trump Administration’s efforts to do just that, and today I’m proud to see it take a major step toward becoming law.”

The Deporting Fraudsters Act of 2026 amends the Immigration and Nationality Act to make aliens inadmissible and deportable if they are convicted of fraud-related offenses or admit to fraud.
