House Republicans Pass Bill Creating Red Tape Hotline to Support Small Businesses

WASHINGTON—Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed Rep. Tony Wied’s (R-Wis.) H.R. 4305, creating a dedicated hotline for small business owners to report burdensome or unnecessary federal regulations to the Small Business Administration (SBA) Office of Advocacy.

House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) and Rep. Wied released the following statements:

“President Trump and House Republicans have already taken a chainsaw to the worst of the bureaucratic regime, but our work isn’t done yet,” said Chairwoman McClain. “This new hotline empowers small businesses to join us in the fight against Big Government, delivering a direct line to help cut through red tape so they can continue creating good-paying opportunities for American workers.”

“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, but they often lack the time and resources to navigate complex regulatory frameworks,” said Rep. Wied. “As a former small business owner, I know firsthand how burdensome regulations can make it harder for businesses to operate and turn a profit. I’m very proud to see the House pass my bill, the Destroying Unnecessary, Misaligned, and Prohibitive (DUMP) Red Tape Act to give small business owners a direct line to make their voices heard, report unnecessary regulations, and ensure those complaints are documented and reviewed so Congress can take action.”
