Chairwoman McClain and Rep. Kiggans Highlight How the Working Families Tax Cuts Support Virginia’s Middle-Class and America’s National Defense

VIRGINIA — House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) and Congresswoman Jen Kiggans (VA-02) visited QED Systems in Virginia Beach, a key defense contractor supporting U.S. Navy ship repair and modernization for over 50 years.

As part of Chairwoman McClain’s national tour promoting President Trump’s Working Families Tax Cuts, the lawmakers heard directly from skilled workers whose hands-on expertise keeps America’s fleet mission ready.

“When we invest in our workforce and cut red tape, we strengthen America’s middle-class and national defense,” Chairwoman McClain said. “I was proud to join Congresswoman Kiggans in her district to highlight how House Republicans are prioritizing our national defense, supporting skilled workers, and bolstering our security through the Working Families Tax Cuts. Hearing directly from the people doing the work helps us shape smarter, more effective policies in Washington.”

Chairwoman McClain highlighted how the Republican-led Working Families Tax Cuts expands Pell Grant eligibility for short-term training, eliminates taxes on overtime and tips, and encourages small businesses to hire and train skilled workers.

“I was honored to welcome Chairwoman McClain to Coastal Virginia to highlight how the Working Families Tax Cut supports manufacturing facilities and our defense industry. These historic tax cuts will improve the lives of families and workers in VA02 by letting them keep more of their hard-earned paychecks,” Rep. Kiggans said. “Thank you to QED Systems for graciously hosting our visit today. For more than fifty years, QED has been a trusted partner to our military—advancing engineering and IT systems that strengthen our Navy and keep our fleet mission-ready. From improving hull and electronic systems to increasing durability across the board, their work is vital to America’s national defense, and I’m grateful for all they do to ensure our military remains the best in the world.”
