As Democrats Endanger ICE Agents, House GOP Delivers Border Security Through OBBBChairwoman McClain Condemns Democrats’ Dangerous Rhetoric Against ICE, Highlights Republicans’ Support for Border Security and Law Enforcement Through OBBB

WASHINGTON – In contrast to Democrats, House Republicans are united in their support for law enforcement and a secured southern border. The Republican-led One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) contains key policies to protect American communities and strengthen America’s national security. The legislation was passed at a critical time, as assaults against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials are up by more than 800% while House Democrats continue to stake out extreme, dangerous positions that threaten American law enforcement and public safety. Chairwoman Lisa McClain (R-Mich.), the top messenger for House Republicans, condemned recent comments made by a Democratic Member of Congress, who dangerously called ICE a “terrorist organization.” McClain said, “Our courageous ICE officers are hard at work arresting terrorists who are in our country illegally and hiding in our communities. I call on all House Democrats to immediately condemn this disgusting and dangerous rhetoric against ICE officers.” In op-eds published in local and national outlets, House Republicans are highlighting the important border security investments made through the One Big Beautiful Bill: “Before President Trump took office, our borders were a chaotic mess,” Congressman Mark Amodei (R-Nev.) and Chairwoman Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) wrote in the Reno Gazette Journal. “Over 10 million illegal immigrants entered our country on [Democrats'] watch. Their open border policy was dangerous, and Americans paid the price with their safety and, in too many tragic cases, their lives… Laken Riley, a bright young nursing student out for a run, was brutally murdered by an illegal immigrant who had been released into our country not once but twice. Rachel Morin, a mother of two from Maryland, was killed by an MS-13 gang member who had already committed murder in El Salvador before slipping across our border… Enough is enough,” Congressman Rudy Yakym (R-Ind.) wrote in InkFreeNews. “President Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans have made it a priority to close the border, stop the invasion, and enforce the law without hesitation,” Chairman Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) and Chairwoman Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) wrote in a recent op-ed for The Daily Wire. “With these America-first policies in place, illegal border encounters plummeted. On February 22, 2025, U.S. Customs and Border Protection recorded just 200 encounters—the lowest single-day total in 15 years, and in March, border apprehensions fell by 94 percent from the previous year, reaching the lowest figure registered since 2000. The numbers confirm that President Trump's decisive actions immediately secured our border, signaling to Americans nationwide that he would do everything in his power to protect our kids, families, and communities,” Congressman Randy Feenstra (R-Iowa) wrote for Newsweek. “[A] finished border wall system makes it harder for the next Democratic administration to rip it down. It gives our Border Patrol agents the strategic advantage they need, and it sends a clear message to the cartels, traffickers, and any other criminals thinking about violating our sovereignty that America isn’t open for business,” Congressman Morgan Luttrell (R-Texas) wrote in The Washington Examiner, highlighting provisions included in the OBBB. The OBBB delivers historic border security by making the largest investment ever to secure our borders and gives ICE the resources it needs to continue removing millions of illegal immigrants who entered our country under Joe Biden’s watch:
