House Democrat Doubles Down On Defunding the Police

This weekend, Rep. Cori Bush, whose vehicle was recently hit by gunfire, doubled down in her support for defunding our police departments on Twitter.

In August, Bush said that the police "need" to be defunded, despite shelling out tens of thousands of dollars for her own personal security detail. Congressional Democrats like Bush have spent the better part of the last two years demonizing our police and supporting the radical Defund the Police movement. The consequences of their constant demonization of our police officers are deadly. In 2021, 73 police officers were killed in the line of duty, a 59% increase from 2020 and the most since 1995. MAKE NO MISTAKE: Defunding and demonizing the police like this has dangerous consequences. DEMOCRATS’ CRIME CRISIS:
  • Following a year of defunding the police rhetoric from President Biden and Congressional democrats, over a dozen major U.S. cities had record high homicide rates in 2021.
    • At least 16 U.S. cities have set new homicide records in 2021, according to local police departments.
    • In 2021, there were 346 officers shot, 63 of whom were killed by gunfire.
      • Fox News reported that 73 police officers were killed last year, which is a 59% increase from 2020 and the most since 1995.
    • In 2021, there were 103 ambush-style attacks on law enforcement officers, a 115% increase from 2020.
