President Biden and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer continue to play games with the full faith and credit of the United States, refusing to negotiate with Speaker McCarthy to pass a sensible debt ceiling solution. A recent poll shows that an overwhelming 74% of Americans want Biden and Schumer to compromise with Speaker McCarthy, yet they refuse to do their jobs. 
 
Instead, both Biden and Schumer are entrenched, demanding a clean debt ceiling increase. Raising the debt ceiling without reforms to stop over spending and address inflation is not an option and will do nothing to address the reckless abuses that got us here. 
 
SCHUMER’S HISTORY OF SUPPORTING COMPROMISES DURING DEBT CEILING NEGOTIATIONS

  • Biden called negotiations a “normal” process.
  • Biden acknowledged you “have to have compromise” and criticized those with a “my way or the highway” approach.
• 2012: Biden said securing a deal with Republicans was a “great honor.”
• 2021: Biden hoped for “intelligent and honest conversation” with Republicans on a debt limit increase.

 
MAKE NO MISTAKE: House Republicans are the only ones who have passed legislation that raises the debt ceiling in a reasonable, responsible, and sensible way while simultaneously addressing our nation’s debt crisis by limiting Washington’s irresponsible spending, saving taxpayer dollars, and growing the American economy.
