Biden’s State of the Union is Still in Crisis—But House GOP Has Hit The Ground Running to Deliver on Our Commitment To America

  • House Republicans

Tonight, Joe Biden will pass the buck and double down on Democrats’ failed Far Left agenda in his State of the Union Address—but make no mistake, America is still in a state of crisis following two years of one-party Democrat rule in Washington. Luckily, House Republicans have already hit the ground running to deliver on our Commitment to America in this new House Majority.

In just the first few weeks, we have passed legislation reopening the People’s House, defending America’s energy security, protecting the sanctity of life, defunding Joe Biden’s IRS army, addressing the Chinese Communist Party’s malign influence, ending Biden’s COVID-19 power grab, and holding the Biden Administration accountable for their weaponization of the federal government. And we are just getting started.

FULFILLING OUR COMMITMENT TO AN ECONOMY THAT’S STRONG

BIDEN’S ECONOMIC CRISIS BY THE NUMBERS:

BIDEN’S ENERGY CRISIS BY THE NUMBERS:

  • On the day that President Biden was sworn into office, the average price for a gallon of gas nationwide was $2.39.
  • Today the national average for a gallon of gas is $3.47—over a dollar more than when Biden took office.
  • According to the Energy Assistance Directors Association, households are expected to pay the highest energy costs in 15 years this winter.
  • Over a third of American households say they have forgone basic expenses to afford an energy bill in the last 12 months, according to a recent LendingTree survey.

HOUSE REPUBLICANS’ PLAN: AN ECONOMY THAT’S STRONG:

  • Fight Inflation and Lower the Cost of Living.
    • Curb wasteful government spending that is raising the price of groceries, gas, cars, and housing, and growing our national debt.
    • Increase take-home pay, create good-paying jobs, and bring stability to the economy through pro-growth tax and deregulatory policies
  • Make America Energy Independent and Reduce Gas Prices.
    • Maximize production of reliable, American-made energy.
    • Cut the permitting process time in half to reduce reliance on foreign countries, prevent rolling blackouts, and lower the cost of gas and utilities.
  • Strengthen the Supply Chain and End Dependence on China.

WHAT HOUSE REPUBLICANS HAVE ALREADY ACCOMPLISHED:

  • PASSED The Strategic Production Response Act:
    • House Republicans PASSED this legislation to prevent abuse of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve and require Joe Biden to put forth a plan to increase our domestic production.
    • The SPR is for emergencies—not political points.
    • Joe Biden has sold nearly 40 percent of our stockpile since being elected—more than EVERY U.S. President in history COMBINED.
    • Today, our crucial emergency oil reserves are at the lowest level since 1984.
  • PASSED The Protecting America’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve From China Act:
    • This legislation prevents the Secretary of Energy from selling any SPR oil to an entity affiliated with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) or any entity that intends to export it to China.

FULFILLING OUR COMMITMENT TO A NATIONAL THAT’S SAFE

NATIONAL SECURITY CRISIS:

  • Joe Biden has failed to stand up to our adversaries in Beijing, Tehran, and Moscow.
  • The Biden Administration allowed a Chinese surveillance balloon to traverse the entire continental U.S. over the course of 7 days, gathering intelligence and flying over sensitive military sites, before taking action.
    • The balloon entered U.S. airspace on January 28th over the Aleutian Islands in Alaska.
    • Despite President Biden knowing of the threat and invasion of U.S. airspace violating our national sovereignty, he waited 5 days before issuing an order to shoot down the balloon.
    • The American people deserve to know why Joe Biden allowed this national security threat for so long, why he tried to hide it from the American people, and what information our foreign adversaries were gathering.
  • Biden’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan resulted in:
    • OVER 1,000 Americans abandoned behind enemy lines for months at the mercy of the Taliban and $7 billion in U.S. military equipment left behind.
  • Under Biden, the U.S Army fell 15,000 soldiers short of their recruitment goal for FY22, missing by 25%.
  • According to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Personnel Policy, who testified before the Senate Armed Services Personnel Subcommittee, “This constitutes an unprecedented mission gap.”
  • The Army projects the number of active duty soldiers could drop by as much as 6% in FY23, below the branch’s budgeted target request for the year.

BIDEN’S BORDER CRISIS BY THE NUMBERS:

  • Since Joe Biden took office:
    • There have been OVER 4.5 MILLION illegal crossings of our southern border.
    • December 2022 was the worst month on CBP’s 22-year record for monthly crossings and the tenth consecutive month that our southern border had more than 200,000 illegal crossings.
    • More than 1.2 MILLION illegal immigrants have evaded apprehension at our southern border, according to Border Patrol sources.
  • In the first three months of this fiscal year alone, CBP has seized over 9,000 pounds of fentanyl coming across the Southwest border—Enough to kill over 2.1 billion people, or over 6.4 times the U.S. population.
  • In just the first three months of FY 2023, 38 people whose names appear on the terrorist watchlist were stopped trying to cross the southern border.

    • Support our troops.
    • Invest in an efficient, effective military.
    • Establish a Select Committee on China.
  • Exercise peace through strength with our allies to counter increasing global threats.

      • Deceptive trade practices.
      • Supply chain risks and vulnerabilities.
      • Its role as supplier and producer of fentanyl and its failure to stop or control what is coming out of China.
      • Exploiting U.S. investment to power the CCP national security state.
      • Acquisition of agricultural land in America.

DEMOCRATS’ AUTHORITARIAN COVID LOCKDOWNS:

  • Test results show that the draconian measures forced on our children during COVID-19 lockdowns have left many students behind:
