House Republicans Pass Secure America Act to Fully Fund Border Security and Immigration Enforcement

WASHINGTON— Today, House Republicans passed S. 2, the Secure America Act, legislation providing long-term funding for border security and immigration enforcement operations through September 2029.

House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) released the following statement:

“Democrats created the worst border crisis in American history and then tried to cut off the very law enforcement agencies cleaning up their mess,” Chairwoman McClain said. “That is insane. The men and women fighting cartels, traffickers, fentanyl smugglers, and criminal illegal aliens should never have their paychecks or missions held hostage by partisan games. House Republicans are ending that nonsense. We are giving law enforcement the resources they need to finish the job, protect American families, and make sure the border is never surrendered to chaos again.”

The Secure America Act provides funding certainty for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations through fiscal year 2029. This legislation bolsters frontline personnel, expands enforcement capabilities, supports state and local law enforcement partnerships, and invests in technology to stop fentanyl, human trafficking, and other criminal activity at the border by:

  • Investing more than $22 billion in CBP personnel, training, equipment, mission support, and immigration enforcement operations.

  • Providing more than $38 billion for ICE personnel, removal operations, transportation, facilities, technology, attorneys, and enforcement activities.

  • Investing $3.45 billion in border technology, non-intrusive inspection equipment, artificial intelligence tools, surveillance systems, biometric screening, and fentanyl interdiction efforts.

  • Providing $108.5 million for child exploitation investigators, forensic analysts, victim identification efforts, and law enforcement training.

  • Expanding 287(g) partnerships that allow state and local law enforcement agencies to assist with immigration enforcement.

  • Supporting Homeland Security Investigations operations targeting transnational criminal organizations, traffickers, and other threats.

  • Strengthening detention, transportation, operational support, and maintenance capabilities necessary to carry out immigration enforcement missions.
