WASHINGTON—Today, the House passed H.R. 3628, the State Planning for Reliability and Affordability Act, to lower energy costs and increase grid reliability. The legislation was led by Rep. Gabe Evans (R-Colo.). The bill helps utilities prepare for rising electricity demand, keep enough reliable energy on the grid, and prevent power outages. It also protects families from sudden spikes in energy costs caused by poor planning or retiring power plants too quickly, ensuring Americans have both reliable and affordable electricity. House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) and Rep. Evans released the following statements: “Bidenomics left families in the dark with overbearing regulations and soaring energy bills,” said Chairwoman McClain. “As Democrats pushed their Green New Scam agenda, hardworking Americans paid the price. House Republicans are lowering prices by reversing destructive rules and building reliability in our grid.” “For years Colorado’s ruling Democrats have pushed out-of-touch policies and burdensome regulations that have led to skyrocketing energy bills for hard-working families across the state,” said Rep. Evans. “This legislation puts Coloradans first by holding state regulatory entities like Colorado Public Utilities Commission accountable through new federal standards, to ensure they are focused on considering energy reliability and affordability. I’m proud to lead the charge on legislation that lowers costs and strengthens our energy future.” |
