Chairwoman McClain: Democrats Could Have Stopped 42 Million Americans from Going Hungry

WASHINGTON– House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) released the following statement as the Democrat Shutdown leaves 42 million Americans without access to food assistance starting today:

“Republicans passed a clean bill to fund SNAP and keep the government open. Democrats said no, fourteen times,” Chairwoman McClain said.  “Now, 42 million people are struggling even harder to feed their families, flights are grounded, and millions are unpaid. Americans should never be leverage for their wasteful spending agenda. Enough is enough. End the shutdown."
