Chairwoman McClain Nominates, Votes to Elect Speaker Johnson

House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) today formally nominated Speaker-Designate Mike Johnson (R-La.) as Speaker of the House. McClain voted for Johnson to continue serving as the leader of House Republicans and 56th Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.

“The Speaker has proven time and again his ability to lead the House, and most importantly, he has been working closely with President Trump to put House Republicans on a path forward to pass an America-First agenda,” said Chairwoman McClain. “As a member of House leadership, I have witnessed firsthand Mike Johnson’s commitment to a higher calling and ensuring the foundations of our great Republic are preserved for future generations. I congratulate the Speaker on his reelection and will work tirelessly alongside him and our entire Conference to improve our country for the American people.”

McClain highlighted how Johnson has skillfully navigated House Republicans through a narrow majority, remained steadfast in his values of faith, family, and love of this country, and will not stop fighting as Speaker of the People's House.
