What women business owners had to say about tax reform

Rep. Karen Handel (R-GA) joined the weekly House Republican Leadership press conference to share what tax reform means for the workers, families, and small business owners in her district — especially the women business owners. It’s Women’s History Month, and we’re celebrating the trailblazers who came before us and focusing on empowering the next generation to keep making history for years to come.

Rep. Handel’s Remarks:

“In December, we promised the American people that we were going to deliver economic growth the likes of which most in this room have never experienced and most Americans haven’t experienced. Well, those pro-growth policies, the regulatory relief we’ve delivered along with these tax cuts are delivering right now on that promise to so many Americans across the country.

“In March, as we celebrate Women’s History Month, I wanted to talk about a woman in my district who is a real trailblazer. Her name is Nancy Juneau, and she is the CEO of Juneau Construction. She is a 32-year veteran of the construction industry and she now owns the largest woman-owned contractor [business] in Georgia. It is also the largest woman-owned company of any kind in the state of Georgia. And here’s what she had to say about the Tax Cuts & Jobs bill:

“In construction, things are cyclical. So this tax bill passage is going to allow Juneau Construction to increase its bonding capacity, and in general contracting bonding capacity is everything. And that means Juneau will be able to receive larger contracts, which means more revenue, which means more jobs that they can create. Growth like this affects so many American families, not just in the Sixth District, but across the country.

“There’s another individual, Kim. She also happens to work in the construction industry. When I ran into her recently, in my neighborhood, she was so excited to tell me she is bringing home an extra $260 a month in her paycheck…that is meaningful and real for a single mom making sure that her daughter gets through college.

“[Tax reform] is working for Americans. It is working for women. It is working for working families across the country. I look forward to seeing more positive results in the months to come.”
