Meet Karen DeLoach: a mother of three, grandmother of six, and bookkeeper from Montgomery, Alabama. Karen represents millions of working moms all across this country who balance their jobs with their families.
Rep. Martha Roby (AL-02) recently introduced the Working Families Flexibility Act of 2013 – commonsense legislation that would remove obstacles for working families to better balance work and family obligations. State and local government employees have been able to choose paid time off as compensation for working overtime hours since 1985, allowing these public-sector employees greater flexibility to meet family obligations. However, an outdated federal mandate prohibits private-sector workers from enjoying this same benefit.
Karen’s story is the story of so many other hardworking Americans – and it’s one that would benefit immeasurably from the added flexibility and choice provided in this legislation.
