House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement in honor of Peace Officers Memorial Day, which marks the beginning of National Police Week.
“Today and every day we remember the men and women whose end of watch came early. Our nation’s police officers see people at their most vulnerable, and sadly often at their worst. But each day they wake up, put on their uniform, and fulfill their duty to protect and to serve our communities. We honor the legacy and memory of all who serve. Blessed are the peacemakers.”
NOTE: This week the House will vote on several bills aimed at providing law enforcement the tools they need to keep our communities safe. These include the Strengthening State and Local Cyber Crime Fighting Act of 2017 (H.R. 1616), introduced by Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-TX), and the Probation Officer Protection Act of 2017 (H.R. 1039), introduced by Rep. Dave Reichert (R-WA). For a full list of this week’s votes, click here.
