House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA), co-chair of the Congressional Military Family Caucus, released the following statement after the House passed the Fiscal Year 2017 Department of Defense Appropriations Act (H.R. 1301), which prioritizes funding for our military. Chair McMorris Rodgers represents Fairchild Air Force Base in Eastern Washington.
“Hearing from our service members and their families, I am reminded that they go above and beyond the call of duty. The least we can do is make sure they have the funding they need, when they need it, to do their jobs safely and effectively. This bill ensures just that, by supporting troops and their families, improving readiness, enhancing our capabilities, and helping us maintain a strong Active and Reserve force — all of which will empower our military to keep us the safest and freest country in the world. I want to thank Defense Subcommittee Chair Kay Granger and full Committee Chair Rodney Frelinghuysen for their leadership and dedication in bringing this bill before us – to ensure our nation’s peace through its military strength.”
