Chair McMorris Rodgers, Remarks as Prepared for Delivery:
“Good morning! As we approach this Thanksgiving season, I would like to begin today by thanking my colleagues here in Congress for the work they have done to empower people in all corners of this country. We have listened to the American people, we have passed hundreds of bills that will expand their opportunities, and we have advanced solutions to make their lives better. So as we move forward, let’s focus on what unites us and not on what divides us. Let’s come together — the White House and Congress, Republicans and Democrats, the Senate and the House — and lead.

“Just last night, the Senate passed the bipartisan bill to increase child-care options for low-income moms and dads and create a better life for working families. And today the Senate will act on our longtime bill which has the support of Democrats and Republicans to approve the construction of the Keystone Pipeline and create 40,000 good-paying jobs right away. Let’s get these bills — among many, many others — to the President’s desk and signed into law.

“The time for leadership is now. It’s no longer about left versus right. It’s about past versus future. So let’s make that future better and do what is good and right for the American people.”
