Super Bowl Sunday? Bets Are On.

Jan 30, 2015 | Communications •

This weekend, the Seattle Seahawks face the New England Patriots in the biggest football game of the year. And this weekend, House Members representing the state of Washington and Massachusetts are putting their states’ stake on the line — in a classic Super Bowl bet.

From the Washington delegation:

  • Suzan DelBene (WA-01): Chateau St. Michelle wine
  • Rick Larsen (WA-02): Useless Bay Coffee Company coffee
  • Jaime Herrera Beutler (WA-03): Candy from Chehalis Mints
  • Dan Newhouse (WA-04): Tieton American craft cider and Chukar chocolate-covered cherries
  • Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05): WSU Cougar Gold Cheese  and Walla Walla wine
  • Derek Kilmer (WA-06): Northern Fish smoked salmon and Brown and Haley almond roca
  • Jim McDermott (WA-07): Theo Chocolate, Hilliard’s beer and Pike Place salmon
  • Dave Reichert (WA-08): Boehm’s Chocolate, Blueberry Hill Farm’s blueberry pies, and Washington apples
  • Adam Smith (WA-09): Oberto beef jerky and POP! Gourmet Popcorn
  • Denny Heck (WA-10): Blue Max Meats Beast Mode sausage and Deillano coffee

and of course…

Skittles-Wrapper-Small

On Super Bowl Sunday, the Seattle Seahawks will strut into the University of Phoenix Stadium and deflate Tom Brady’s ego. We look forward to watching Russell Wilson and his team take down the New Englanders just like he did the last time the Seahawks played the Patriots. In this East Coast versus West Coast matchup, we know our defense will carry the Hawks to victory, and we’re excited to welcome them back to Washington D.C. for a repeat visit to the White House.”

And from the Massachusetts crew:

  • Congressman Richard Neal (MA-01): One bottle each of Berkshire Mountain Distillers Whiskey and Gin
  • Congressman Jim McGovern (MA-02): Wormtown beer
  • Congresswoman Niki Tsongas (MA-03): Cedar’s hummus and pita chips
  • Congressman Joe Kennedy III (MA-04): Kuppels bagels
  • Congresswoman Katherine Clark (MA-05): NECCO candy
  • Congressman Seth Moulton (MA-06): Marshmallow Fluff
  • Congressman Michael Capuano (MA-07): Sam Adams beer
  • Congressman Stephen Lynch (MA-08): Harpoon beer
  • Congressman Bill Keating (MA-09): Craisins

“With a three-time Super Bowl Champion and two-time MVP under center, there is a reason why the majority of Americans believe the Patriots will win this Sunday. Throughout the season and especially in the post season, we have seen the creative genius of Bill Belichik and Josh McDaniels utterly confuse and frustrate some of the league’s best defenses. However we believe the Seahawks will have even more trouble overcoming our league best secondary. Above all, we’re very excited to see the Patriots meet President Obama for the first time.”

May the best team win… and enjoy the delicious district food.

What happen to all the Jobs Bills in the 113 th Congress are they going to be approved for the President to sign? Thank you keep up the Good Work. Don

I gotta say, when the Seahawks win the Washington delegation will be losing. Completely uncreative and boring stakes put up by MA.

I am elated that someone noticed and has taken action to protect this American right to work a 40-hour work week.
