TV Roundup: House Republicans want Americans to have options in health care

House Republicans are continuing to hit the airwaves in support of the American Health Care Act, our plan to repeal Obamacare and replace it with patient-centered policy.

Here are a few more highlights to start your weekend:

Rep. Diane Black (R-TN) During Health Care Press Conference

“This is an exciting moment for our party and for our country. We’ve promised that we would repeal and replace Obamacare with a patient-centered health care system that reduces costs. We’re one step closer to keeping our promise. This bill secures key conservative victories. It dismantles Obamacare’s mandates and taxes. It puts health care decisions back in the hands of patients, where they belong…this is where it belonged all along.”

Rep. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) on CNBC

“I just came out of a 27 straight hour markup with the left fighting it every step of the way. The truth is this is the beginning of the health care reform. It’s going through the open process. They can offer amendments, and if they can get…people to support their amendment and it strengthens health care — it’s about getting it right for the American people. …This bill moves [health care] in the right direction and puts it back in the hands of the American people and out of the hands of bureaucrats in Washington, D.C.”

Rep. Bill Flores (R-TX) on MSNBC

“[Our bill] goes as far as we can. …we intend to go through this in three phases. Phase one uses a budget tool called reconciliation…the challenge with reconciliation is we can’t do everything we want on the repeal side or the replace side. We get the rest of that in phase two, which is what Tom Price can do as Secretary of HHS, and phase three is where we pass legislation to cross state lines…remove some of the anti-trust protections that insurance companies have…those should be bipartisan.”

Rep. Jim Renacci (R-OH) on Fox Business Varney & Co.

“The Affordable Care Act is on a crash course. I was a pilot — that plane can’t continue to fly. What we’re saying is that we have to literally strip that plane, make sure that it can fly in a safe zone and land safely. That’s really the goal.”

Rep. Luke Messer (R-IN) on CNBC Squawk Box

“We’ve promised for five, six years that a Republican leadership team….would repeal Obamacare and replace it with something better. And we’re going to get that done. …we’re going to get rid of the taxes, get rid of the mandates, get rid of bureaucrats deciding how you define your health care and put the individual in charge.”

Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) on CNN

“We’re living up to the promise we made to repeal Obamacare and I appreciate the explanation that we’re in a three-step process. We have legislation now, we have the administrative actions that the Secretary of HHS Tom Price can make, and subsequent legislation this week — [Chair] Virginia Foxx led the fight on Education and Workforce successfully for association health plans. So we are following through on the promises we made to the American people.”

Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA) on CBS News Red & Blue

“When we return to the states their ability to decide where the money is going…more importantly than anything else, hardworking American taxpayers — especially middle income and lower income people — are going to get a tax credit that they can use to buy the policy that they want, not one that someone from Washington says ‘this is what you must buy.’ How about allowing people to buy what they can actually afford, what contains the policy pieces that they would like to have in there? Isn’t that what this is always supposed to be about? The private sector, allowing people to compete, allowing insurance companies to go head-to-head for people’s business — that drives the price down and the quality up. That’s just the basic tenet of economics.”
