“Tax reform is the most important thing I will ever vote on”

What do we want? Tax reform!

When do we want it? This year!

This afternoon, in a major speech at the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) 2017 Manufacturing Summit, Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) reaffirmed House Republicans’ commitment to commonsense, pro-growth tax reform.

With everything going on, House Republicans continue to champion our vision of tax reform. Check out the latest:

Rep. David Schweikert (R-AZ) with FreedomWorks:

“Tax reform is the most important thing I will ever vote on….This isn’t just a tax cut here, tax cut there. It’s a rewrite of the tax code. So everything from that seed corporation to the LLC pass through to those of us at the individual level, and you have to do it all together. Think of it as sort of an organic system that all loops together, you have to get that 68,000 page tax code and get it down to a fraction of a fraction of that. And that’s where we’re going with this.”

Rep. Pat Meehan (R-PA) on #TaxReformTuesday:

“One of the things that I enjoy the most when we are away from Washington is the chance to actually sit and meet my constituents. And invariably, we hear stories about the impact of business regulations, but taxes as well. And that’s one of the reasons I want to talk about how important tax reform is.

“I got a chance to go onto a factory floor earlier today and talk with a business, which has been a family business in the tool and die area for over forty-five years.

“But one of the things that would help them is a tax policy that would enable them to make the kind of investments to continue to compete in a very, very tight global market. Being able to expense up front – that kind of capital investment will allow this company to continue to compete.

“It means jobs, not only here in my district, but it also means the retention of very skilled employees that we’re not going to be able to continue to keep here in this country if we don’t have this kind of work. That’s one of the reasons that comprehensive tax reform can make a difference.”

Rep. Jim Renacci (R-OH):

“This morning I addressed the Ohio Society of CPA’s. I spoke about our failing tax system and how it’s pushing companies and jobs overseas. I spent most of last year traveling Ohio to meet with businesses, large and small, to find out what was holding them back — the overwhelming response was our corporate tax code. We must reform this antiquated system to make our country the best place to start and grow a business.”

Rep. Jody Hice (R-GA) on Fox Business:

“We’re focused on tax reform. …tax reform, regulatory reform, and trade — those are the key issues that will transform our economy, get it jump started and back on track where it needs to be. That is the focus.”

Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA) on Fox Business:

“Go to the people who actually pick up the tab, and go to them and say ‘what are we doing to help you succeed? What are we doing to keep you from succeeding?’ and get to the answers. I don’t think it’s that hard…I get to go home every weekend [to my constituents]…to find out what are we doing to hurt you? And if we aren’t helping you — be loud…and don’t ever back away from it thinking somebody doesn’t care.”

Ways and Means Committee Chair Kevin Brady (R-TX) with FreedomWorks:

“This is a generational opportunity. It really is about closing all those loopholes and special exemptions, lowering rates for everybody, getting government out of distorting markets and letting those markets run free….The good news is for the first time in 30 years you’ve got a president, a republican house that is committed to overall pro-growth tax reform. Better yet, we want to do it this year.”

Rep. Erik Paulsen (R-MN) in a #TaxReformTuesday:

“We all know the importance of tax reform because it’ll help companies like Starkey Hearing Technologies where I am today – a company that focuses on manufacturing and innovation. We can help manufacturing across this country if we reform our tax code to focus on growth, on simplicity, and permanency.

“By modernizing our tax code, we can lift the economy through more jobs and higher wages. We look forward to House Republicans’ in the near future advocating and pushing these ideas out, and we need your suggestions, too. So please stay engaged and watch for us to modernize our tax code.”
