Republican Leadership Press Conference

“Real health care reform begins when we empower people – that mom with breast cancer, that boy with Down syndrome, and that woman with ALS. Real health care reform starts by making patients the priority, not the federal government.”

Republican Leadership Press Conference
June 24, 2015

Chair McMorris Rodgers, Remarks as Prepared for Delivery:

“Good morning! In the next few days, the Supreme Court will announce its decision on the future of Obamacare subsidies for nearly 7 million people across this country. Those 7 million people are our moms and dads, our neighbors, our college students, and some of our country’s most vulnerable. And we will protect them.

“We will protect them from rising costs, lost coverage, and limited choices. We will advance real health care solutions that put patients – not Washington, DC bureaucrats – first. Just last night, we voted to repeal an unelected board of bureaucrats that limits seniors’ health care options. And through our 21st Century Cures initiative, we are pioneering innovative ways to provide treatments and cures to diseases that affect millions of Americans.

“Real health care reform begins when we empower people –that mom with breast cancer, that boy with Down syndrome, and that woman with ALS. Real health care reform starts by making patients the priority, not the federal government. And together, that is exactly what we will do.”
