Phase one of our plan to repeal and replace Obamacare, the American Health Care Act, will be up for a vote this week, but that’s just the start. Also this week, we begin the third phase of our plan, through legislation to advance other policy initiatives to provide certainty in our health care system and to increase choice, lower costs, and ensure everyone has access to quality and affordable health care.
Today, at a press conference on Capitol Hill, someone who’s played a major role in one of our phase three bills, Rep. Tim Walberg (R-MI), joined House Republican Leadership to talk about the Small Business Health Fairness Act of 2017. This legislation will ensure that small businesses and other entities can join together to enter into association health plans so they can get the best plans for them, at the lowest prices. In talking about this legislation Rep. Walberg said, “So it’s an exciting time to me as we talk about this first step, this first phase, but the third phase, we’re already able to say ‘these are the types of things that we’ve promised and we’re going to carry out and give opportunity to our people’”
As we continue our efforts to pass the American Health Care Act to repeal Obamacare, its taxes and its mandates, we will also move forward on phase three, our policy goals and changes to fix the damage done by Obamacare.
Most importantly, we are doing all of this in an open, transparent process so the American people can provide input and have a say in what’s going on. We’re listening, and we’re talking their feedback and putting it into everything we do.
