On February 11, Rep. Ilhan Omar “unequivocally apologized” for an anti-Semitic tweet suggesting support for Israel is motivated by money.
Less than a month later, she’s at it again…
“I want to talk about the political influence in this country that says it is okay to push for allegiance to a foreign country.” – Rep. Ilhan Omar, 2/27/19
Via New York Magazine: “This is much worse. Accusing Jews of ‘allegiance to a foreign country’ is a historically classic way of delegitimizing their participation in the political system.”
The House recently voted unanimously to combat and denounce anti-Semitism and Democrats made clear that if Rep. Omar made comments like these again, they would act swiftly and harshly.
Bottom line: Will their party leadership keep their word and take action to condemn the use of anti-Semitic tropes that express her true views?
