House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement after the House passed the Matthew Young Pollard Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Years 2018 and 2019 (H.R. 6237). Introduced by Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), Chair of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, this legislation provides our intelligence agencies with the resources and authorities they need for critical national security programs.

“House Republicans are continuing our work to deliver results to keep Americans safe. Today, we are meeting our responsibility to review and reauthorize our critical intelligence resources. With evolving threats around the world, including cyber attacks, we must ensure that our intelligence agencies are equipped to do their jobs safely and effectively. This reauthorization will improve retention for critical cyber missions, help defend us against foreign threats to elections, protect our infrastructure, enhance benefits for CIA employees injured overseas due to hostile or terrorist activities, and bolster intelligence oversight. All essential actions needed to improve our efforts to keep our country secure and free.”
