House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement on Purple Heart Day 2018.
“To every single Purple Heart recipient and their families, we say ‘thank you’ for your selflessness, for your love of country, and for your remarkable bravery when facing those who seek to do us harm. America is a beacon of hope and the land of opportunity because of your sacrifices. Today, and every day, we honor you as a grateful and humbled nation.
“As we reflect on Purple Heart Day, we are reminded of our responsibility to the men and women who serve. Our service members risk it all to protect our fragile and precious freedom, and for the security of our nation, we need to support them. House Republicans have led a historic rebuilding of our military to reverse the damage caused by the readiness crisis, which includes properly funding our armed forces and providing our troops with the resources and training they need to do their jobs. America is safer and Better Off Now than it was two years ago, and our work needs to continue. That’s why President Trump is preparing to sign the 2019 NDAA into law, and why I’m encouraging the Senate to pass the defense appropriations bill as soon as possible.”
Note: House Republicans have led to strengthen and reassert the dominance of the American military. With new investments in training, equipment, and personnel, our country is Better Off Now as a result. CLICK HERE to see what House Republicans, including Reps. Liz Cheney (R-WY), Bradley Byrne (R-AL), Rep. Rob Wittman (R-VA), Mike Gallagher (R-WI), are saying about why this work must continue.
