House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement after the House passed H.R. 2353, the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act. Introduced by Rep. Glenn “GT” Thompson, the legislation updates federal policy that empowers local and state leaders to use federal resources to prioritize economic growth and workforce development.

“To build the workforce of tomorrow, we need to start with smart policies that help Americans today. This common sense legislation removes the barriers our state and local leaders face when helping Americans enter the workforce. I applaud Rep. Thompson’s work and leadership to more easily connect Americans to career and technical education and close the skills gap that prevents too many from finding good-paying jobs.”
