House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) kicked off this week’s House Republican Leadership press conference by explaining just how important passing the Financial CHOICE Act is to every American, from farmers to business owners to families who want to buy a home. Leadership was joined by Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) and Rep. Mia Love (R-UT).

Here are two key quotes from her remarks:

“One of the priorities of this Congress is lifting the regulatory burden off the American people…we’re building on that this week with the Financial CHOICE Act. It’s important because this is the way we make our economy work for everyone.”

“At the end of the day, Dodd-Frank didn’t help Main Street. …I heard this when I was back home. I was in Davenport, Washington….They were talking about how…your local banker can’t take a chance on you anymore — can’t provide the capital for you take a risk and start a business, or provide a loan to the farm when you need it.”
