Washington, D.C. – House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) today released the following statement upon approval of the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs and Zika Response Appropriations Act (H.R. 2577) Conference Report.

“For months, the People’s House has taken real, responsible steps to address the Zika threat by laying the groundwork to combat the disease before it becomes a public health crisis in the United States. Our work continued this morning with the House’s final approval of additional funding, which provides the administration with the resources needed to address the Zika threat as we head into the height of mosquito season.

“With our votes this morning, we’re also funding critical resources for our troops, their families, and our veterans, all while increasing oversight at the VA, so our veterans can get the care they earned. I urge the president to sign this responsible plan immediately, and I applaud the good work of House Appropriations Committee Chairman Hal Rogers and the members of the conference committee.”
