Washington, D.C. – House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement after the House passed H.R. 218, King Cove Road Land Exchange Act. The bill, introduced by Rep. Don Young (R-AK), authorizes a land exchange to facilitate the construction of a road linking the City of King Cove to the City of Cold Bay to access a modern airport.

“This legislation is a critical step to ensuring the people of King Cove have access to life-saving emergency medical care,” said McMorris Rodgers. “Thanks to Rep. Don Young’s tireless advocacy of Alaskans to ensure their health care needs are met while also not compromising the environmental integrity of the wildlife refuge.”
