The last major reform to the tax code happened the same year The Oprah Winfrey Show debuted. That’s right, Oprah Winfrey first appeared on her iconic talk show the same year Ronald Reagan signed The Tax Reform Act of 1986. The Oprah Winfrey Show lives on in the history books and hearts of millions, while the tax code just makes us all miserable.
It’s time for change.
In fact, it’s past time for change.
Over the past several years, the House Committee on Ways and Means and the Senate Finance Committee worked to examine, develop and edit various tax reform proposals.
Building on this and the input of American families, business leaders, and policy experts, we’re confident that a shared vision for real and timely tax reform is here. The House, Senate, and White House are working together to make this a reality.

- Our vision lowers individual tax rates across-the-board and consolidates existing tax brackets.
- Our vision delivers the lowest tax rates in modern history for American job creators
- Our vision eliminates the maze of unfair special interest loopholes
