House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) joined CNBC’s Squawk Box this morning to discuss the progress we’re making on pro-growth, pro-family tax reform. As she shares in her interview, Chair McMorris Rodgers believes we are on track to get this done by the end of the year. The House recently passed the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act, and the Senate is on its way to doing the same.

Here are the key quotes:
“I’m most encouraged by what tax reform means for hardworking men and women all across this country and for the economy. I’m encouraged the Senate is moving forward to come up with a vote even this week. That means that we would be on track to get the differences between the House and the Senate worked out, and a bill ultimately on the President’s desk by Christmas, which has been our goal. But it’s very important that the Senate take action this week, and we’ve even been told in the House — the Majority Leader told us yesterday that we might even work on the weekend on Saturday or come back on Monday to expedite a conference committee so that we can keep this going.”
“I think it’s very important to recognize that for the most part [the House and Senate] are headed in the same direction. We have a framework that was agreed upon by the House, the Senate, and the President. That has really kept us moving on the right track. There are some differences. The [State and Local Tax] deductions is one of the major topics…it’s especially impacting those high-tax states. With our members, we reached an agreement so that middle-income Americans would benefit from a $10,000 property tax deduction.”
“I want [the Corporate Tax] Rate as low as possible. We’ve had a stagnant economy. We’ve had stagnant wages. Getting that rate as low as possible has to be one of our top priorities…we’ve seen companies moving their headquarters — moving jobs — overseas rather than continuing to invest and expand in America.”
