It’s clear that Obamacare is failing and we need a better way.
Luckily, we have one.
Having heard your frustrations, House Republicans spent the last several months taking our Better Way agenda to every corner of the country. A cornerstone of this agenda is our bold new ideas on health care—ideas that offer more choices, lower costs, and better care.
And that’s exactly what we need now, more than ever, especially in light of the recent announcement of double digit premium increases across the country.
It gets worse.
Chairman Tom Price (R-GA), in his latest op-ed published by TownHall, points out how our solution is an alternative to Obamacare that actually works for people.
Our solution is simple, Chairman Price explains: “Under our plan, Americans would have more choices and the ability to pick a health insurance plan that meets their needs and those of their family. We would clear out the bureaucratic impediments to innovation and a more competitive marketplace while giving individuals and small businesses the ability to pool together and gain the purchasing power of millions.”
We know the stakes. And we’re already hard at work. Says Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), “We have written numerous bills that are pulled together to build a patient-centered approach for the delivery of our health care system that does the following: gives you more choices and control while reducing costs, makes sure you are never turned away from receiving coverage regardless of age, income, and medical condition, speeds up the development of life-saving devices and therapies, and builds up a stronger Medicare program.”
- “Our plan also makes it easier to take insurance from job to job. And for those without access to employer coverage, Medicare, or Medicaid, we offer a refundable tax credit to help buy health insurance in the individual market.”
- “We will expand health savings accounts so you can choose the care that’s best for you and your budget. By allowing health insurance to be sold across state lines, similar to auto insurance, we take a step towards making insurance more competitive and more broadly available.”
- “We will give small businesses more leverage to negotiate better rates. Our plan allows for small businesses and individuals to band together through new pooling mechanisms to increasing purchasing power to attain lower rates.”
It’s simple: Republicans are prepared to replace Obamacare with real, patient-centered solutions that protect families and their budgets.
In a nation as large as ours, it makes no sense for a federal bureaucracy to dictate our health care options. But that’s exactly what Obamacare does.
That’s why it’s time for a Better Way.
