Noem, Smith Call to Simplify Tax Code, Hold IRS Accountable

Are you feeling a little lighter today? So are we, but it’s not because we chose the salad over pizza for lunch.  As Rep. Kristi Noem (R-SD) puts it, “all of Americans wallets are a little bit thinner” after filing taxes and, unfortunately, handing money over to the IRS.

Earlier today, she and Rep. Jason Smith (R-MO) joined a press conference on Capitol Hill to discuss solutions to the broken system under which the IRS operates. Both are leading efforts that bring accountability and transparency to the IRS and help keep money in the pockets of hardworking Americans – where it belongs.

Said Smith, “The last thing [Americans] want to do is send their money directly to Washington…”

We couldn’t agree more.

As Republicans serving you in the People’s House, we hear you when you say you are fed up with the confusing, outdated, and complicated tax code that no one understands — not even the experts.

That’s why we are putting forth alternative solutions that seek to empower people — not frustrate them.

Didn’t catch today’s press conference?  Don’t worry, we have it for you HERE.
