no distractions

House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) led a press conference this morning with House Republican Leadership and Rep. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) to discuss how House Republicans are keeping their promise to focus on tax reform and on delivering affordable and reliable energy to the American people.

Here are the highlights:

“This week we are continuing to focus on those issues that are going to improve people’s lives. And this week the focus is on reliable, affordable energy….on bringing transparency and predictability to our energy infrastructure construction process by enacting smarter regulations, removing the red tape. That’s the way that we’re going to unleash energy production in America and bring down cost. This is one of the best ways that we can actually have people keep more of their hard earned dollars and put more money back in people’s pockets.”

“We’re also remaining focused on other priorities in the House. This week…the Budget Committee will be unveiling their FY18 budget, moving forward on the important priority…and foundational to that is our efforts to reform our tax code. …Our tax code is too costly, it’s too complex and it’s unfair. And we want a tax code that is fair to hard-working men and women all across this country.”

“Our mission is to put americans back to work, to create jobs, and jumpstart this economy. And while there is a lot of noise out there, I want to let every American know that we are not going to let those distractions to distract us from the important work of improving their lives.”
