Ensuring Our National Security

Republicans strongly believe America is a force for security and stability in the world. In conflicts such as the Second World War and the Cold War, America has used its exceptional power to secure the freedom of millions.

America’s efforts overseas are key to our prosperity and security at home. Our brave servicemen and women have made enormous sacrifices to ensure the safety of all Americans. Thanks to their efforts as well as those of our allies, we have territorially degraded the Islamic State (ISIS) in Syria—a fight that remains ongoing. With the help of our closest ally in the Middle East, Israel, we are also working to counter Iran’s anti-American, malign activities.

The threats to the American way of life are many, and they have only grown over the last century. These threats will not diminish if the U.S. retreats from the world, as it did under the Obama administration. It is vital that America continue its tradition of leadership.

To that end, and to ensure the security of all Americans, Republicans understand that a strong defense is of the utmost importance. As George Washington put it, “To be prepared for war is one of the most effectual means of preserving peace.
