House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement tonight after the House voted to provide critical funding for medical research and open America’s national parks and museums:
“As long as the Senate prolongs its refusal to negotiate with the House, we will continue our efforts to keep the government running by funding our priorities – just like we acted to do tonight. Despite our repeated attempts to negotiate a solution, the Senate refuses to come to the table and talk. The Democratic-controlled Senate has the choice to work with us to re-open the government and protect the hardworking Americans who are affected by this shutdown. But it needs to start with a dialogue. It takes both parties – and both bodies of Congress – to come to the negotiating table. Republicans have been at that table; now we just need Democrats to join us.”
