“We Pray for Answers, for Safety and for Peace”

WASHINGTON – House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement today in response to the shooting at the Washington Navy Yard:

“This morning, just blocks away at the Washington Navy Yard, several of our fellow Americans lost their lives in an act of violence that has left our hearts heavy and our spirits shaken. The halls of the Capitol are quiet tonight as we pray for those whose lives were cut short. We pray for answers, for safety and for peace. We pray that hearts will be healed and families will be comforted. Let us give gratitude to the police officers, firefighters, investigators, and first responders who have so bravely and courageously brought an end to this violence. Tonight, let us hold our loved ones close to us as we pray for those who have lost theirs. And in the depths of our sorrow and sadness, let us send strength – and the courage with which God has blessed this great country during perilous times before – to all who were affected by today’s senseless and unspeakable tragedy.”
