“With a several billion-dollar price tag attached, states should not be automatically forced to comply with the regulatory whims of unelected bureaucrats.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement after the House passed H.R. 2042, the Ratepayer Protection Act of 2015, which provides more flexibility as the states and the courts review carbon dioxide emissions rules proposed by the EPA.

“Today’s vote was a check on the EPA’s back door power grab. With a several billion-dollar price tag attached, states should not be automatically forced to comply with the regulatory whims of unelected bureaucrats. This legislation provides local leaders the opportunity for judicial review and flexibility they need to ensure that families and businesses are protected. Going forward, the House will continue to pursue commonsense and innovative energy policies that encourage efficiency, and preserve our environment for generations to come.”
