House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement after the House passed the Trickett Wendler, Frank Mongiello, Jordan McLinn, and Matthew Bellina Right to Try Act of 2017 (S. 204). This legislation passed the Senate and will now move to President Trump’s desk to become law.
“Patients who are suffering and fighting for their lives should have every chance to find a cure and treatment that works. When our nation is leading in medical discovery, we cannot let terminally ill patients and their families lose hope because a potentially lifesaving treatment is just beyond their reach. I’m thankful for the Senate’s action and for the work done by Rep. Fitzpatrick in the House to address this important issue. It’s time to improve access to experimental treatments before it’s too late.”
