McMorris Rodgers: It’s time for stronger protections for survivors of sexual assault

WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) today applauded the passage of the Survivors’ Bill of Rights Act of 2016, which provides additional rights and protections for survivors of sexual assault.  The legislation was introduced by Rep. Mimi Walters (R-CA).

“Far too few sexual assault survivors come forward,” said McMorris Rodgers. “We must do everything we can to empower those who do, ensure their rights are protected, and encourage them as they fight for justice. I am thankful for Rep. Walters’ work on behalf of the more than 288,000 victims of rape and sexual assault each year in the United States.”
