“American families have asked for solutions – and while we found a ‘yes,’ the President has just said ‘no.”

WASHINGTON D.C. – House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement today after President Obama vetoed the bipartisan legislation to build the Keystone XL Pipeline.

“Time and time again, we have said ‘yes’ to American families and voted to approve the Keystone XL Pipeline. We’ve said ‘yes’ to job creation and energy security. But today, when faced with a choice on the Keystone XL Pipeline, President Obama has said ‘no.’ This was more than a ‘no’ to an energy producing project – this was a ‘no’ to 40,000 jobs. This was a ‘no’ to lower every-day costs at home and increase energy security abroad. But most disconcerting: this was a resounding ‘no’ to the American people. Over 60% of Americans have asked for the production of the Keystone XL Pipeline. And today, the President ignored them. American families have asked for solutions – and while we found a ‘yes,’ the President has just said ‘no.'”
