McMorris Rodgers: Strengthening Passenger Rail

These commonsense reforms, including a more transparent accounting process for Amtrak, ensure taxpayer dollars are being used wisely and responsibly.

WASHINGTON D.C. – House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) issued the following statement today after the House passed H.R. 749, the bipartisan Passenger Rail Reform and Investment Act of 2015.

“Men and women across the country rely on an efficient, reliable passenger rail to get from point A to point B every day, and the bipartisan Passenger Rail Reform and Investment Act ensures them cost-effective transportation while protecting hardworking tax payers. These commonsense reforms – including a more transparent accounting process for Amtrak – ensure taxpayer dollars are being used wisely and responsibly. This legislation improves our passenger rails from coast to coast, and it empowers states to have an equal say in ensuring passengers have the best service possible. I applaud Chairman Bill Shuster (R-PA) for his efforts to reform our transportation system to prioritize the safety of American passengers.”
