House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement after Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) announced yesterday that she will be retiring from Congress after her current term.

“To say I will miss Ileana is an understatement. She is fearless, bright, funny, and kind, and she inspires me to see the good in every person and every day. With a career spanning several decades, Ileana has made public service her life’s work. She became a trailblazer as the first Latina to serve in Congress, and has been an unwavering, fierce advocate for the people of South Florida and those who suffered under the Castro regime. It’s an honor to serve with her, and I wish her great joy and happiness in all the future holds for her and her family.”
