McMorris Rodgers Statement on Passage of the “No Budget, No Pay Act”

WASHINGTON – House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) today issued the following statement as the House of Representatives acted to rein in Washington spending by passing the “No Budget, No Pay Act”:

“Today’s bipartisan passage of ‘No Budget, No Pay’ is the next step in House Republicans’ efforts to put Washington on a budget. For almost four years the Democratic-controlled Senate has failed to pass a budget – its most basic responsibility – which is unfair to hardworking taxpayers and small business owners who live within their means every month.

“A budget matters to Americans in every corner of our country. It matters to seniors who rely on their benefits, to middle-class Americans who can’t afford to see their taxes go up, and to children whose futures will be limited if Washington does not live within it means. A responsible budget that controls spending is key to putting us back on a path to economic prosperity so we can create opportunities for all Americans. It’s time for Senate Democrats to do their job and follow the law. It’s time to pass a budget.”
