WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) released the following statement after the House passed a short-term continuing resolution to fund the government until December 22, 2017.
“In September, the House passed all 12 appropriations bills to fund the government and prioritize the needs of the American people– including resources to enhance our national defense and support our troops. Because the Senate failed to do their part, this short-term extension is necessary to provide additional time to determine how best to responsibly fund the government. It also ensures that states have access to the necessary resources to continue funding the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) uninterrupted for the remainder of the year. For a long-term solution, I continue to urge the Senate to act on final passage of the House reauthorization of CHIP to ensure low-income kids have access to the health care they need. I’m optimistic the House and Senate will come together in the weeks ahead to reach consensus on a path forward on these issues.”
